Koper take on the visitors Vaduz in the first leg of quarterfinals of UEFA Conference League qualification. The match will be played on Thursday, July 21th at Bonifika (Koper).
Koper had a very convincing last season. The Canaries took the league title in 2010 and were included in the limited list of those who were able to get this done (of course, Maribor, as well as Mura and Olympia managed to do this). In addition, it turned out to win the cup and the Super Cup of the country. But in 2017, due to financial problems, the ambitious club lost its license, which forced it to start over from the 4th division. However, it turned out to quickly return to the big leagues, having made 3 "promotions" in a row - this happened already in 2020. And, in the 2nd edition, Koper took 2nd place in the championship, also in combination with the cup. This allowed them to return to the international arena. The last time in 2015, the Slovenes played in the qualification of the Europa League.

Vaduz get opportunity to play in European competitions. The "Residents" sometimes climbed into the top league in Switzerland - this was the case, for example, in 2020/2021. But for the lion's share of their history they have been playing in the 2nd division of the country. In the spring they were there 4th. However, it is also a representative of a tiny country, Liechtenstein. And in 2022, it turned out once again to win the cup of this enclave. This allows to start in the Europa League, and in recent years - in the Conference League. Several times it turned out to pass 2 opponents, as it was in 2019 (knocked out Breidablik and Fehervar). But last summer, the representative of Liechtenstein lost to Újpest without much chance, losing to the Hungarians in both meetings (1-3 at home, 1-2 away).
Koper cannot be considered as a regular in European cups. Yes, and Vaduz never really linger in the international arena. So this will be the first meeting between the teams. Koper is not the strongest and most experienced opponent. But still they play at home against the representative of Liechtenstein. We believe that Slovenians can start the round with a victory in their arena.
Prediction for the match: Koper to win.
