Kazakhstan hosts Ukraine in round 4 of the World Cup qualification. The match will be played on Wednesday, September 1st at Astana Arena (Nur-Sultan)
The national team of Kazakhstan gained its last victory in September 2020. In the Nations League match, the Kazakhs inflicted an away defeat on Lithuania (0-2). Since then, there have been no wins in nine games. Only three of them ended in a draw. One of them fell on the match against Ukraine in the qualification for the 2022 World Cup. Talgat Baysufinov's charges managed to score an equalizer against a much stronger opponent. On average, the Kazakhs have scored 0.6 goals per game in the last five matches. The team concedes much more often (2.4 goals). I would like to note that in four out of five recent matches with the participation of Kazakhstan, goals were scored in both halves. The Kazakhs were able to score first in only one out of five games.

A new era begins in the history of the Ukrainian national team. Andriy Shevchenko left his post and was replaced by Oleksandr Petrakov, who led the national Ukrainian under-20 team to the gold medals of the World Cup two years ago. Shevchenko can boast a historic achievement — he led the team to the quarterfinals of the European Championship. Petrakov faces the new task of bringing the team to the World Cup in Qatar. Ukraine complicated this task in the qualification, having drawn three times. I would like to note that all three qualifying matches with the participation of the Ukrainian national team ended with the same score of 1-1. The Ukrainians opened the scoring in two of them but then they invariably lost their advantage.
Kazakhstan rarely scores even at home. The Kazakhs have scored in only two of their last five home games. It is not entirely clear what to expect from Ukraine. And it's not so much about changing the coach. The team has a problem with the forwards — the hero of the match against Sweden, Artem Dovbyk, picked up an injury, and Roman Yaremchuk missed the last match in the Portuguese championship because of high temperature. The attacking line of the Ukrainians is bloodless, and therefore one should not expect high production in the upcoming game.
Prediction for the match: Under 2.5 goals scored
