Kalamata take on the visitors PAOK in the first leg of 1/8-finals of Greek Cup. The match will be played on Wednesday, December 14th at Kalamata Metropolitan Stadium (Kalamata).
Kalamata are now stuck in the 2nd division of Greece. The "Black Storm" have not gained much success in its history. But at least they won the right to try themselves in the Intertoto Cup in 2000. But from 2011 to 2021, with a one-year exception, the team played at the level of the 3rd league of the country. Finally breaking through higher, Kalamata almost made it straight into the "elite", but eventually finished in 3rd position. Now, too, the start was not bad, but remember that only half a dozen rounds have been played there so far, and it's too early to draw any conclusions.

PAOK remains one of the strongest clubs in Greece. The "Double-Headed Eagles of the North" by Ivan Savvidi. A native of Georgia with a Russian passport is distinguished by eccentric actions, but he tries to finance his offspring from Thessaloniki in every way better than FC Rostov. In 2019, it even turned out to finally return the championship, and there are enough successes in the cup, in combination with, it seems, the already eternal “silver”, which also was earned the last draw. This year, however, was not the best start - and in the Conference League the Greeks managed to get eliminated by Levski early in the qualification, and there were enough misfires in the domestic arena. In November, they seem to have gained momentum, won three times in a row - and then a pause for actually a month came. Yes, there are friendly matches, and it turns out to win in them too. But the real form will become clear already at least in the cup.
The clubs intersected at the turn of the century, in 1999-2001. At home, PAOK won both meetings, and on the road they were limited to draws. PAOK understands that there will also be a second leg, and are unlikely to tear their veins. But there are very different forces in a pair - we bet the guests from Thessaloniki to win with a handicap of "-1 goal".
Prediction for the match: PAOK to win with -1.0 handicap.
