Inter take on the visitors Verona in the round 19 match of Italian Serie A. The match will be played on Saturday, January 6th at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) (Milan).
Inter last secured the Scudetto under Antonio Conte, who left when he realized a sharp reduction in financial capabilities. His successor, Simone Inzaghi, couldn't replicate that achievement, although he won both the domestic cup and the country's Super Cup and reached the Champions League final last season. The current revamped squad is showing somewhat inconsistent performances. The Coppa Italia titleholder (two consecutive times) suffered a home defeat in extra time to Bologna. They also failed to defeat Real Sociedad in the Champions League. They still made it to the playoffs but only from the 2nd place, drawing a tough and experienced opponent, Atletico, in the round of 16. However, most attention is understandably focused on Serie A, where the Milanese giant is leading and winning the majority of their matches. Still, a draw with Genoa brought the competitors closer.

Hellas Verona are once again fighting for survival in Serie A. The mastiffs managed to become the country's champion back in 1985, but the Scudetto remained their only one, spending quite some time at a lower level. In the past decade, it was a full-fledged elevator, consistently winning Serie B (2013, 2017, 2019) but only after the recent ascent, under Ivan Juric, did they manage to stabilize in the top flight. The Croatian left in 2021 for an upward move to Torino. His successors merely kept Hellas from relegation. Last season, they had to play an additional playoff match against Spezia, which had similarly poor statistics. Hoping to improve, they lured Marco Baroni from Lecce in the summer. He debuted with a couple of wins in August but managed to win only around Christmas when his team secured a 3-2 victory over another survival contender, Cagliari. However, later, under similar circumstances, they lost 0-1 to Salernitana.
Head-to-head meetings between Nerazzurri and Hellas Verona have traditionally been excellent for the former, rarely allowing the latter to finish a match in a draw. Nerazzurri are considered favorites, and it's unlikely they will have trouble confirming this status. The leader won't allow even a chance of such a setback – bet on their victory with a handicap of -2.0 goals.
Prediction for the match: Inter to win with -2.0 handicap.
