Hellas Verona welcome the visitors A.S. Cittadella in the Italian Serie B – Round 18. The match will be held on Thursday, December 27th, at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi (Verona).
Hellas Verona were victorious in less than a half of their fixtures; only half of their home clashes saw their wins. The team were great in autumn, featuring a few bright victories, but they are running a bad streak lately – of seven rounds, they won only twice. Six points, however, were picked up in the meetings with the closest pursuers Benevento and Pescara. The latest Verona’s outing was extremely unsuccessful, they dropped points again. It is yet unknown if Verona manage to advance to the Serie A in the end of the season. Much will depend on how they face the middle-class teams, and there are certain issues with that as for now.

A.S. Cittadella look little more advantageous than the hosts. First, the least scoring in the league are only the leading Palermo; second, the guests’ no-loss Serie B run counts yet eleven consecutive rounds. The visiting side boast best defense – in sixteen fixtures, they lost twelve goals, but their away record is the most impressive – three goals missed versus four goals made. In six of eight rounds, the guests played ‘to nil’. In the last season, Cittadella did not pass Frosinone yet in the knockouts; in this campaign, they sit fifth, three points behind the second line, and stand a good chance of progressing to the Serie A.
The underscoring outcome of the Thursday night clash is not difficult to predict. Cittadella have not produced over two goals in their outings so far. We don’t think their tactic will suddenly change in the meeting with the closest rival. Either side will be fine with a draw tomorrow. Both opponents are quite equal. In our view, the guests are little underestimated by bookmakers. The ‘Citta’ are likely to get one point at least.
