Heerenveen hosts Waalwijk in round 16 of Dutch Eredivisie. The match will be played on Thursday, January 14th at Abe Lenstra Stadion (Heerenveen)
Heerenveen’s results got much worse. The Super Frisians won the last time on November 1st. After that, they began to lose points regularly. At first, Heerenveen at least managed to replenish the piggy bank due to draws. At the end of November - beginning of December, there were four draws in a row (curiously, they were invariably productive - three times 1- 1 and 2-2 at home with PSV.) All three last matches ended exclusively in defeats. Even the winter break did not help. In the last round, Heerenveen lost to Fortuna Sittard, which scored three times in the middle of the 1st half. Yes, the hosts had a noticeable advantage, but all that came out in the end was to score a consolation goal (Werman did it in the 72nd minute).

Waalwijk did not relegate only because of the coronavirus. At the time of the decision to finish the 2019/2020 Dutch Championship ahead of schedule, RKC was in the last place. Moreover, the team won only 4 times and scored only 15 points in 26 matches – it was unconditionally the worst result, and 16th Fortuna scored 11 points more. In the new draw, Fred Grim's charges improved their results, but they alternate separate small successful segments with losing streaks (they managed to score points for 3 rounds in a row already twice). The last black streak is too long. 2020 ended with three defeats in a row with a total goal difference of 2-8. And last Saturday, Waalwijk hosted one of the few clubs that goes lower in the standings, Den Haag. RKC allowed the opponent to open the scoring already in the 17th minute and didn’t manage to respond with anything - despite all the advantage in ball possession and the created attempts, everything ended with a minimal 0-1 defeat.
In this pair, Heerenveen has been the clear favorite over the years. The Super Frisians had four victories in a row, but last November Walwijk gained a 1-1 draw at home. However, the opponent played in the minority from the 43rd minute. Now Bookmakers consider Heerenveen to be the clear favorite of the upcoming match. But this team, like its rival, has not shone since December, so it is better to bet on neutral Under 3.5 goals scored.
Prediction for the match: Under 3.5 goals scored
