Granada take on the visitors Villarreal in the round 11 match of Spanish LaLiga. The match will be played on Monday, October 30th at Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes (Granada).
Granada are currently too weak for La Liga. The Nasrids were recently relegated to the Segunda. At that time, they appointed Diego Martinez Penas as their coach, who not only managed to bring the team back to the top division of Spain but also secured a 7th position with his team. In the 2020/2021 season, they started in the Europa League in the playoffs and finished in the playoffs, also securing a 10th position in the internal competition. However, the coach decided to leave, believing that he could achieve more in another project. Unfortunately, he didn't succeed in that new project, and his former team found themselves in the 18th place in 2022. Fortunately, they later invited Paco Lopez, and he managed to win the Segunda. The problem is that they were strong at that level and confirmed their status as favorites. However, in La Liga, they only have 1 win in 10 matches, and this was back in late August, resulting in only 6 points. Furthermore, they had three draws before the break for international matches, not just against Almeria but also against Betis and even Barcelona. On October 20, they suffered a 0-2 loss to Osasuna.

Villarreal were successful under Unai Emery, securing a Europa League victory (the first significant trophy for their ambitious project) and reaching the Champions League semi-finals. However, Unai seemed to believe he had already extracted the maximum from this team, and about a year ago, in the fall of 2022, he returned to England, agreeing to take over Aston Villa. Kike Setien, who replaced the departed manager, did bring some progress, at least in La Liga, where they finished 5th. However, he had a falling out with almost all of his players. This became evident after a disappointing start to the new season. In September, they made another reshuffle by placing their bet on Paceta. So far, he hasn't been able to change the situation. They did secure a win in the Europa League after losing to Panathinaikos, but in La Liga, after defeating the modest Almeria, which was in mid-September, they continued to experience losses and draws. Even in the last round, they had a 1-1 draw at home with the newcomer, Alaves.
Villarreal hasn't lost in the last 12 head-to-head matches. Including the most recent one in February of last year, which ended 4-1 in favor of Villarreal. Judging by the odds, the visitors are expected to win a relatively spectacular match. At least you can argue for the latter, so we expect a total under 3.0 goals.
Prediction for the match: Under 3.0 scored goals.
