Granada CF hosts Sevilla in round 2 of Spanish LaLiga. The match will be played on Friday, August 23rd at Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes (Granada)
Granada amazed many football fans in the first round match: the Nasrids showed an amazing thriller match with Villarreal and tied with a 4:4 score. However, as I wrote earlier, Granada still has certain problems with the positional attack. Judge for yourself: 3 out of 4 goals were scored after set plays (2 after corner kicks, 1 from the penalty spot); one more time the ball flew into the goal of Villarreal from Ruben Peña, and he, if anything, plays for Villarreal). Granada also lost to the hosts of the Estadio de la Ceramica stadium in terms of ball possession and a number of passes. Nevertheless, Granada, although it has problems with positional attacks, surprised me very pleasantly.

Sevilla began the season brilliantly, beating Espanyol with a 2-0 score in Barcelona. As I wrote in the prediction for that match, Sevilla is much stronger than the Espanyol, and it should have had an effect. Sevilla, if you look at the expected goals, achieved a very confident victory: 0.15 against 2.40. According to Understat, Sevilla had 4 obvious goal attempts (2 goals and two shots by Luuk de Jong with his head), Espanyol had 0. It is also worth noting that Sevilla’ attacking system is very flexible: the team often tries to control the ball a lot and make the opponent open in this way, but in some cases, the game can be greatly simplified, due to the fact that it is possible to give high crosses to Luuk de Yong. Of course, Luuk does not help much in moving the ball down, but something tells me that the option with high balls can be very helpful for Sevilla in critical cases during the season.
Of course, Sevilla is much stronger than Granada now, but the hosts can well give a surprise, especially since Granada won in a recent friendly match between these teams. Both Granada and Sevilla has a quite good positional attack (Sevilla, of course, makes it cooler), while the teams did not have problems with scoring in the first round, so it seems to me that this match will turn out to be rich in goals.
Prediction for the match: Over 2.5 goals scored
