Germany takes on the visitors Mexico at “Luzhniki Arena” in the matchday one of the FIFA World Cup Russia. The game will be played in Moscow on Sunday, June 17th.
Germany is quite able to thrash Mexico, especially bearing in mind that the reserved squad of “Die Bundesmannschaft” destroyed the upcoming rival with 4:1 scoreline within the FIFA Confederations Cup a year ago. Still, coming out of the tactics for the whole tournament, I doubt Joachim Low will get his side on the peak of its form in the group stage already. Moreover, judging from the latest friendly tackles in which Germany lost to Brazil and Austria plus earned only 2:1 victory over Saudi Arabia, the reigning world champion will make no rush in the forthcoming fight. It is of common understanding that the Germans have enough class and mastery to settle on the first place in their group and eventually promote further. The team is also capable to score a goal or two to any opponent of their quartet even to the tough Swedes while epic failures like the one which showed the Spaniards in 2014 are not foreseen by the German machine.
It goes without saying that Mexico has very tiny chances to beat Germany. To do this the side would need to have at least few starring footballers in a good form in the squad. However, one can hardly see anyone like that in the Mexicans’ roster for the tournament.
Thus, I assume Mexico is unable to compete on equal with Germany as the present line-up needs to get some fresh talented blood. In their turn, the nominal hosts don’t have to smash their opponent and spend too much efforts or come up over motivated. Therefore, I expect for German’s triumph with a slim margin.
Prediction for the match: Under 2.5 scored goals.
