Gent hosts Rijeka in the first leg of the Europa League qualification finals. The match will be played on Thursday, August 22nd at Ghelamco Arena (Gent)
The Belgian club Gent (please do not confuse it with Genk) is confidently moving along the qualification grid of the current UEFA Europa League so far. At its previous stages, the team beautifully dealt with Romanian Vitorul first (6:3 at home, 1:2 on the road) and Cyprus AEK Larnaca (3:0 at home, 1:1 away)... At the same time, we see that the Flemish Buffaloes are very strong in their native walls, tearing their opponents to many pieces! By the way, Gent is very dangerous within its stadium not only in the second European Cup but also in the Belgian regular season. Not so long ago, Gent hammered Eupen with a 6-1 score, which is rare in football + it was less scoring but also confidently beat Ostende (2-0). I also want to add (for those who are not aware) that Gent has a recent positive experience even in the Champions League. The White and blues (their squad has not changed much since then) managed to get to the 1/8 finals 3 years ago (national record), where they lost to German Wolfsburg in an equal fight (2:3, 1:0).

As for Rijeka, it, like all Croatian teams, does not look stable in international official competitions. For example, the team may beat Scottish Aberdeen (like this year) and lose to Norwegian Sarpsborg (as it was in the last Euro season)... Besides, the Balkans will not be able to count on two main defense figures in the person of Petar Mamic and Alexander Gorgon, so a quick attack of Gent will feel even more comfortable while doing its dirty deed!
Prediction for the match: Gent to win
