Gent hosts Kortrijk in round 2 of the Belgian Jupiler League. The match will be played on Saturday, July 15th at Ghelamco Arena (Gent)
Jess Thorup's men unexpectedly started the new season with a defeat to Sint-Truiden, but the team looked good in terms of the game. The Buffalos possessed the ball most of the time and carried out dangerous combinations through the center, but were very unlucky in the final part of the attacks. Although Gent allowed a misfire in the first game, I am sure that the players will correct their mistakes in the second round. After all, the match will be held at the home arena, where Gent traditionally plays very well with any opponent, and the upcoming rival is far from formidable. The Buffaloes surpass Kortrijk in terms of the level of players. Gent will fully control the game and impose its fast football. Kortrijk probably won't be able to cope with such pressure.

In the first round, Kortrijk was defeated by Waasland-Beveren (1-3). Kortrijk tried to prove itself in the attack (sometimes it even worked out), but the defense was a complete mess - a large space between the lines, no compactness during positional defense, and failures in the pivot zone (sometimes there was no one in that zone at all). These problems will definitely not disappear by the upcoming match, and such freedom in the attack is just a gift for the fast and creative players of Gent. Kortrijk does not show a good game ahead. So far, Yves Vanderhaeghe didn’t manage to build a team with a clear game pattern. Kortrijk is an ordinary middle peasant, and it will be very difficult to impose a fight on Gent in such a state. There are no prerequisites for the visitors to be able to take away points from the Buffaloes.
In the upcoming match, I propose not to invent anything and bet on the victory of the clear favorite, Gent, which demonstrates a more holistic and high-quality game. The visitors are not very good at tactical developments, so you should not expect unexpected decisions from them. It should be noted that Gent won four times in the last five meetings between these teams.
Prediction for the match: Gent to win
