Genk disappoints this season. The Magicians have been showing some roller-coaster-like performance in terms of results lately. While they only managed a modest 8th position in 2022, they climbed to 2nd place last spring. Thanks to this silver, under the guidance of coach Vanaken, they once again entered the qualification rounds of the Champions League - but their stay was short-lived. The Belgians lost to their very first opponent, Servette, who had just emerged from a prolonged crisis. Both matches against the Swiss ended in draws (1-1 and 2-2), but they were defeated in the penalty shootout. And then they couldn't make a mark against the single goal in Piraeus.

Olympiacos had a tough last season. The Legend was not just a historical giant of Greek football. Between 2020 and 2022, they added three more championship titles to their name, bringing the total to a record 47. They clearly planned to keep producing gold, but despite a star-studded lineup, the Red-Whites finished only in 3rd place in the 2022/2023 campaign. Of course, a lot has changed in Piraeus over the summer. Instead of the interim coach Anigo, they now have a full-fledged head coach, Diego Martinez Penas. There were newcomers too, even though not of particularly high status: Kini Martinez (clearly a bet on the new Spanish coach's preferences), Freire, Poroso. A year ago, they brought in Bakambu, de la Fuente, and even James Rodriguez... Nevertheless, they managed to secure a victory against Genk at home with this squad.
Before this current encounter, there was only a friendly match five years ago. Genk won that match with a score of 4-0. The Belgians performed decently away, and now the home advantage will be in their favor. We're betting on a victory for The Magicians.
