Fulham take on the visitors Chelsea in the round 7 match of English Premier League. The match will be played on Sunday, October 2nd at Craven Cottage (London).
The Cottagers have had fairly modest results historically. They reached the finals twice, in 1975 for the FA Cup and in 2010 for the debut season of the Europa League. However, they lost both times. They haven't been frequent participants in the Premier League over the years, ultimately earning the unofficial status of a football elevator. This label was only shed under their current manager, Marco Silva. In 2022, he prematurely secured promotion with his team in the Championship. Later, he earned a respectable number of points in the Premier League, even having a slim chance of qualifying for European competitions, ultimately finishing 10th. A new challenge for the Portuguese coach came with the departure of their key striker, Mitrovic, to the Middle East. He was never adequately replaced. However, they now have new strengths, including a solid defense. It has helped them secure victories against Everton and Luton (both 1-0) and share points with Crystal Palace (0-0). In the League Cup, they advanced via penalties against their neighbor, Tottenham, and then managed to defeat Norwich.

Chelsea looks frankly awful. The Blues played last season without Roman Abramovich. It's certainly not all attributed solely to the change in ownership, but Todd Boehly's chaotic transfer policy not only put Chelsea's financial stability at risk but also created chaos in personnel matters. As a result, the past season was a failure, and the current one, under Pochettino, leaves a very discouraging impression. The only results they've achieved in the Premier League are wins against the weaker newcomer, Luton (they also earned points through draws with Liverpool and Bournemouth). They've failed to score against opponents like Mudrick and company three times in a row, which has contributed to their current 14th position. They also narrowly passed Wimbledon in the League Cup. However, they then fell to Brighton, winning only with a single goal credited to their summer signing, Jackson. It's worth noting that Mikhail has been a regular part of the starting lineup once again, and the Argentine manager praises him.
Before the last season, the Blues clearly dominated in this matchup. However, in the 2022/2023 season, the Cottagers earned 4 out of 6 possible points in their head-to-head matches. The Blues are still considered favorites, although they don't appear stronger than the Cottagers. We recommend betting on Marco Silva and his team not to lose.
Prediction for the match: Fulham not to lose (1X).
