Aue continues to be one of the most consistent teams in the second most important championship in Germany. The fact is that the Violets play very badly away (just recall a defeat to the worst team in the league in the last round), but the team transforms at the home stadium and shows football of a completely different level. Neither Hamburg, nor Stuttgart, nor Arminia could pick up the keys to the Violets’ net at Sparkassen. And the men of Daniel Mayer don’t make their fans miss, having hammered 25 goals in 12 games. In the first part of the season, Sandhausen was a much more battle-ready team. After the New Year, the team seemed to be replaced. I did not find a single flattering word to Uwe Koschinat and his men and this is not surprising. They gained won only one victory in the last six games, having lost to the not-so-strong teams of the Bundesliga 2. Thus, Sandhausen slipped to 13th place in the standings, and it is only four points ahead of the play-out zone.
Judging by the previous two rounds, and due to the tournament position, Uwe Koschinat focuses on attacking football, trying to catch the opponent off guard. It is difficult to understand how expedient it is with such a defense as that of Sandhausen, but there is no doubt that this is in Aue’s interests. After all, Hamburg that was trying to play attack first eventually received three goals and a red card in addition, Stuttgart went the same way, but with a look back, and the best attack of the league, Arminia, did not go far from its neighbors in the standings. Consequently, the Violets deservedly bear the title of a formidable host, and the hysterical football of Sandhausen is unlikely to cause them much damage.
