Dynamo Kiev take on the visitors Lazio at “NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium” in the second-leg tackle of the 1/8 final stage of the Europa League. The match will be played in Kyiv on Thursday, March 15th.
The first-leg encounter raised questions not only about football skills of the rivals, but also about the head-coaches’ tactics. Generally speaking, that draw resulted from poor performance on behalf of the Romans and high effectiveness of Dynamo Kiev. With all the respect to the Ukrainian team, there were big gaps between the lines, especially in the second half while its defense was far from ideal and only Lazio’s bad luck saved Dynamo Kiev form being eventually defeated. Thus, even though the Ukrainians gained 13 victories and five draws in the latest conducted at their own turf, they are the underdogs in the Eurocup game.

At the face of being knocked out from the tournament, Lazio will for sure not underestimate their opponent in the second-leg fight as the club needs only a triumph. In order to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage in the next season “Le Aquile” need either to win the UEFA Europa League trophy or to get the champion’s title of the Italian Serie A where they oppose to AS Roma and Inter. And it is more difficult to succeed in the UEFA Europa League as there are more decent opponents there: Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille and Sporting. Thus, the result of the forthcoming clash against Dynamo Kiev depends on the club’s decision which competition is more preferable.
Despite the draw obtained in the first-leg clash, the visitors are considered to be the obvious favourites of the reverse fixture. And I believe that Lazio will earn a confident victory as I really doubt the rivals will manage to bring another high-scoring draw.
