Dinamo Minsk take on the visitors Derry City at the Traktor Stadium in the second leg match of UEFA Europa League 1st qualifying round. The match will be played in Minsk on Thursday, July 19th. The first leg match ended with a 2-0 win for Dinamo Minsk.
Dinamo Minsk proved their class and won the first leg match cleanly in Ireland. They scored on the 2nd minute and on the 64th minute which allowed them to win with a 2-0 score. It`s worth noting that the team and its coach Sergei Gurenko just turned off the offensive line of Derry City in the first leg match which had no goal attempts at all. The Belorussians were really serious about the qualification matches and asked the Football Federation of Belarus to shift their league match against Torpedo-BelAZ to some time in fall. The Candystripes can justify their failure in Europa League with the fact that their local championship starts later than the Eurocups. But that type of a situation is familiar to a whole lot of teams so that is not the reason to show this bad of a performance. Just look at those horrible results of every Northern Irish team in the qualification. Crusaders were demolished by Ludogorets with a 0-7 score, Cliftonville lost to Nordsjaelland with a 0-1 score and Derry City allowed Dinamo Minsk to win with a 2-0 score. Only Coleraine did not lose and in fact had a 1-1 draw against Spartak from Serbia. The club football scene in Northern Ireland is really disturbing.
Dinamo Minsk have been playing not so good in the Eurocups for the last several years but their fans are hungry to see them win dramatically. The second leg match against Derry City is a good chance to show exaclty that drama.
