Deportes Tolima take on the visitors Millonarios in the round 4 match of Colombian Primera A – Apertura. The match will be played on Thursday, March 30th at Estadio Manuel Murillo Toro (Ibagué).
Deportes Tolima were founded in the mid-twentieth century and had some successes before. These include reaching the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores in 1982 and winning their debut championship in the early 21st century. However, their main achievements came in the last decade. First, they won the cup in 2014, which was essentially their first serious trophy. Then in 2018 and 2021, the club won the Colombian football "gold." They fell slightly short of this last year when they placed in the Apertura, both in the regular season and in the final. However, they slipped to third place in the second half of the season. So far this year, they have not been able to gain such momentum. Although they have had few losses, they have only had a few wins, and their goal difference is negative. However, they managed to beat their compatriots, "Atletico Junior," in the Copa Sudamericana. In the previous championship round, they also had some difficulties, but they managed to beat "Atletico Huila" 2-1.

Millonarios justify their loud name, at least thanks to its one and a half dozen championship titles. In last year's Apertura, they also managed to finish the regular season in first place, but then messed up the Final - they only got fifth place there. Although they did win the Copa Colombia. Currently, they had to alternate performances at their home arena with the Copa Libertadores qualification. There, the club from Bogota passed "Universidad Catolica Quito", but then faced tough "Atletico Mineiro", where they drew 1-1 at home and lost 1-3 in Brazil. It's not surprising that, after starting with a couple of victories in the new national championship, Alberto Gamero's players allowed a few missteps. However, by spring, after getting rid of the international "burden", "Millonarios" repeated the score of 2-0, which they got against "Deportivo Cali", with almost their namesake, "Deportivo Pasto". And then they defeated "Santa Fe" - away, thanks to a brace from David Silva.
The last time "Millonarios" won a head-to-head matche was back in 2017. Recently, however, there have been 3 consecutive draws, but in October, thanks to Uribe's single goal, they defeated "Deportes Tolima" again. Both clubs have been in fairly good form. So, this match is unlikely to be goalless - we recommend betting on "total goals over 2.0."
Prediction for the match: Over 2.0 scored goals.
