Costa Rica hosts Jamaica in round 3 of the third stage of the World Cup qualification. The match will be played on Thursday, September 9th at Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica (San José)
Costa Rica made it to the last two World Cups and generally participated in four of the last five tournaments. And in 2014, Los Ticos even managed to reach the quarterfinals in Brazil! And now such veterans as Oscar Duarte, Bryan Oviedo, Bryan Ruiz, Yeltsin Tejeda, Joel Campbell, and the main star Keylor Navas set the tone. But they are getting older, and some of them (for example, Urena) are even not called up. And there are no new leaders of such a level. Hence the modest results: Costa Ricans were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs at the Gold Cup (though they won all three matches in the group). And the decisive stage of the World Cup qualification started with a 0-0 draw against Panama and a 0-1 defeat to Mexico.

In 1998 Reggae Boys became some of the co-authors of the legendary hit of the group "Chaif" (the same one about the pain of 5-0 in favor of Argentina). The coaching staff cannot count on Leon Bailey, Michail Antonio, Decordova-Reid, Ravel Morrison, Ethan Pinnock, and the list goes on. Not surprisingly, the current roster turned out to be not particularly efficient. The Jamaicans still managed to compete with dignity in the match against Mexico and lost 1-2 to the grandee because of Martin's goal in the 89th minute. But perhaps they spent too much energy on it and lost to Panama at home (0-3).
Costa Rica has not lost in nine head-to-head matches in a row. And at the last Gold Cup, Los Ticos won 1-0 even in the minority. Costa Rica is simply obliged to give the maximum now. The Tricolors need three points and must beat such a squad of Jamaica. We bet on the home team to win.
