Honduras made it to the World Cup three times, and it managed to go there in 2010 and 2014. Still, Los Catrachos failed to win a ticket to Russia. And we can already say that there are practically no chances to go to Qatar. It is the national team of Honduras that now rounds out the standings of the decisive qualification stage. The last round could have been a turning point, as the Blue-Whites were winning 2-0 in the home game against Panama with a quarter of an hour before the finish. But they managed to concede three goals in the remaining time and lost.
Five of the last six head-to-head matches ended in draws (the only exception was the 1-0 away victory of Costa Rica in 2017). In the current season, the teams have already tied: in October, they shared points on the pitch of Honduras (0-0). If the Costa Ricans want to break their unsuccessful streak, they should do it in the upcoming game against Honduras. The hosts desperately need a victory, and we believe that they will gain it.
