However, this was an away game, and we all know how important the home field advantage is for Brazilian teams. In the return leg, I expect a revenge from the Musketeers. After the defeat against America, this team won two consecutive matches. First, they defeated another Mineiro team, Atletico, away in the country's championship (1-0). America Mineiro are currently the worst team in the Brazilian championship. In 14 rounds of Serie A, the team suffered 9 defeats and rightfully sits at the bottom of the table. Even after their home victory in the quarter-finals, it is hard to believe that Wagner Mancini's team will reach the semi-finals. Playing away is America's weakest point. In the previous stage of the tournament, they lost to Internacional (1-3) as visitors, only to advance through a 2-0 home victory. After the match against Corinthians, America Mineiro suffered two away defeats: first against Coritiba in Serie A (1-3), and then against Chilean Colo-Colo (1-2).
What do we have in this quarter-final pair before the return match? The hosts approach it with two consecutive victories, while the guests have two losses. Victoria with a minimal scoreline at home does not make America Mineiro the favorite in my eyes to advance to the semi-finals. Corinthians performs much better on their home ground than away. At the very least, the hosts should win with a one-goal difference against America and take the match to extra time. But I wouldn't be surprised by a hypothetical 2-0 result after 90 minutes without any overtime. My choice is 1X2 in favor of Corinthians.
