Copenhagen take on the visitors Rakow in the second leg of UEFA Champions League qualification finals. First leg result: 1-0. The match will be played on Wednesday, August 30th at Parken Stadium (Copenhagen)
Copenhagen are close to another qualification for the group stage of the main European cup. The Lions were included in the fold of good teams only in 1992. But quickly, they secured their 1st championship title, and by the spring, they had claimed their 15th (while also defending the gold they had won the year before). Moreover, under Jacob Neestrup's guidance, they earned the right to start in yet another qualification round of the Champions League. To begin with, the Scandinavians dealt with their compatriots, Breidablik, with a 2-0 win in Iceland and a 6-3 victory at home. However, the battle with Sparta was extremely challenging. The Czech team held a 0-0 draw at Parken, and in Prague, the regular time ended 1-1, and the extra time concluded 3-3, but the Danes emerged victorious in the penalty shootout. In Czestochowa, an own goal in favor of the guests settled the matter, ensuring that Copenhagen now only needs to play with the goal of not conceding at home.

Raków have performed excellently as a debutant. Red and Blues were founded back in the early 1920s, but only in recent years have they begun to show themselves quite steadily. In 2021 and 2022, the team took 2nd place in the Ekstraklasa while also winning the cup and Super Cup. Last spring, they finally clinched the long-awaited championship title. As a result, the Medallions made their debut in the qualification of the main European cup. Prior to this, they had started twice in the Europa League, and whether in the penultimate or last edition, the Poles faced a couple of opponents. Now they have already surpassed 3 barriers – they overcame Flora (1-0 and 3-0), were slightly stronger than the experienced Qarabag (3-2 and 1-1), and then proved significantly superior to Aris from Limassol (2-1 and 1-0). However, last week, already in the 9th minute, Rakovitan scored an own goal, providing the Danes with a comfortable opportunity to play with the score, which they used to secure a 1-0 victory for themselves.
The Poles began playing in European competitions only in 2021. Therefore, they crossed paths with Copenhagen for the first time, as with other opponents on the international stage. The Danes are in an advantageous position and are more experienced. It's unlikely that the guests from Czestochowa will seriously surprise them. We believe that The Lions will manage to win the return match as well.
Prediction for the match: Copenhagen to win.
