Club Brugge KV faces Genk in the Belgian Super Cup final. The match will be played on Saturday, July 17th at Jan Breydel Stadion (Brugge)
Club Brugge KV finished in first place in the previous Belgian Championship. Thanks to this, for the 4th time in a row, the Black-and-Blues will be among the teams that made it to the Champions League group stage. Club Brugge is not yet very active in the transfer market. The Belgian champions were engaged in the purchase of loaned players, namely, Shakhtar defender Eduard Sobol (€ 3.5 million) and Ajax winger Noa Long (€ 6 million). At the same time, Club Brugge sold striker Emmanuel Dennis to Watford for € 4 million. Preparations for the new season included six friendly matches. In the last of them, held on July 13, Brugge failed to cope with the Dutch Utrecht (2-4).

Genk won the Belgian Cup and finished second in the national championship last season. The Smurfs also made it to the Champions League, but unlike Club Brugge, they advanced not to the group stage but to the 3rd qualifying round. To get to the main draw, Genk will have to beat two opponents. Despite this difficult task, Genk does not carry out a large-scale reinforcement of its roster and is limited to pinpointed signatures. The Smurfs lured defender Carel Eiting from Ajax, acquired defender Mujad Sadik (1.7 million euros) and midfielder Mike Tresor Ndayishimiye (3.5 million euros), and signed a free agent (ex-defender of Antwerp Simen Ukreled). Genk has played four friendly matches since the beginning of July. The last match against the Dutch AZ Alkmaar, which took place on July 14, ended with a score of 1-1.
Club Brugge is considered the favorite of the upcoming final because the match will take place at the home stadium of the Black-and-Blues. Genk looks weak in away matches against the reigning champions of Belgium. The Smurfs gained only one victory in 12 away games against Club Brugge. With a high probability, it is worth waiting for a goal-scoring match. A characteristic feature of the confrontation is consistently high production. In eight of the last nine games, at least three goals have been scored, and the bet on "Both teams to score — yes" has won in 10 of 11 previous matches.
Prediction for the match: Both teams to score — yes and Over 2.5 goals scored
