Burnley welcome the visitors Liverpool in the English Premiere League – Round 15. The match will be held on Wednesday, December 5th at the Turf Moor (Burnley).
We are really sorry for the ‘Clarets’. Last season, Burnley demonstrated great defensive football – even if they did concede at home, those were after a hard struggle losses to top-flight English clubs; more often, they took the points and won. Many experts predicted, however, if Burnley found themselves in the Champions League, they would struggle for survival; so this happened, but the hosts did not manage to get to the European competitions though. The number of the goals they missed is surprising – 29 in 14 rounds. In the last campaign, they allowed only 39 goals in 38 rounds. That used to be a real sensation if Burnley leaked over 2 goals, now they have smashout defeats. Their home pitch does not help much, unfortunately. Given the hosts’ present form, an equal play against the present Liverpool does not seem possible.

Liverpool just play their football. They had two away draws against Chelsea and Arsenal, and one draw against Manchester City at home. The ‘Reds’ have not lost any EPL match yet and are considered one of the main candidates for the gold medals. Their improvements in the defensive line are impressive, they learned how to defend and miss much less. The last away loss was yet in May. As for the Champions League, things are not going great there. Liverpool have to win Napoli by all means, and they will concentrate on this match indeed; most of their EPL wins, however, Klopp’s team got by a margin of over 1 goal.
Sometimes Liverpool feature underscoring matches, sometimes they make one or two goals. Still, Burnley are so poor in their defense that if the guests are willing, they will win by a margin of 3 or 4 goals. Notice the fact that Dyche’s team, yet not too effective before, this season are totally weak in attack. Considering Burnley’s present form, -1.5 handicap on Liverpool’s win seems a great bet under the given margin.
