Brentford faces Swansea City in the English Championship playoffs final. The match will be played on Saturday, May 29th at Wembley Stadium (London)
Brentford has not appeared at the highest level of British club football for a long time. But the Bees managed to noticeably improve their results under Thomas Frank. The team finished the last draw in the playoff zone of the Championship standings but lost to Fulham in the final (0-1). It seemed that that lesson would help. Even after losing striker Watkins (who, however, was completely replaced by Toney found in League 1), Brentford was able to start the season well. And the Bees even updated the record in the League Cup, leaving it only in the semifinals. But they lacked the strength for the entire long way in the Championship, and Watford scored four points more. The series of four victories at the finish did not help either, and Brentford was ranked only third. Moreover, the playoffs began with the defeat to Bournemouth, but the Bees won at home due to the red card picked up by the Cherries.

Swansea may finally return to the Premier League. The Swans have already played in the top division until 2018. At first, the representative of Wales was quite successful there. But then it gradually slowed down and lost its place in the elite. But there are some players from those times — Andre Ayew, who is still efficient, Naughton, Whittaker, Dyer, and Routledge. Having spent the first year on restructuring, the Welsh took a place in the playoffs in the previous season but immediately lost to Brentford. Now the Swans are quite confidently "registered" in the top six. But rather unstable spring results were alarming: there were four consecutive defeats in April and May, and Swansea gained only one victory in the last five rounds. But this did not prevent the Swans from taking the final 4th place. And then they calmly eliminated Barnsley (1-1 at home after a minimal victory on the field of the Tykes).
Three of the last four head-to-head matches didn’t please the fans with an abundance of goals scored. It is unlikely that now, when promotion to the Premier League is at stake, the fans will see more open football — we bet on the Under 2.5 goals scored.
Prediction for the match: Under 2.5 goals scored
