Breidablic take on the visitors Fylkir at “Kopavogsvollur” in the matchday nine of the Icelandic Pepsideild. The game will be played in Kopavogur on Wednesday, June 13th.
Breidablic finished second season in a row, sitting on the sixth position in the Pepsideild standings, although the side’s abilities allows it to settle at least on the third-fourth places. I believe that the club will make all the necessary conclusions and the upcoming fight won’t turn into a problem for the team. Breidablic and their fans must forget the year of 2017 as soon as possible: “Blikar” were knocked out from the League Cup on the quarter-final stage and left the Icelandic Cup on the 1/16 stage. Fur such a club that was a true failure. It looks like the coaching staff analyzed its past mistakes, resulting in the team’s decent results at the start of this season. With eight rounds behind, Breidablic settle on the second place in the table with 14 points gained. As the side recorded two back-to-back defeats few matchdays ago, it was vitally important to rehabilitate itself in the previous tackle which it successfully did, having broken Grindavik 2:0 on the road.

After a year spent in the Icelandic Inkasso-deildin, Fylkir returned to the elite division with the main target for the season is of course stay in it. And at this moment the team copes with that task, having not lost to Hafnarfjordur which are the grand of the Icelandic football although it currently stays in not their best conditions. The upcoming visitors are sitting now on the sixth position in the standings with 11 points taken which is quite a good result for Fylkir, thus, the side might relax a bit. In the previous gameweek “Fylkismenn” broke Keflavik with 2:0 scoreline which improved their situation in general. However, the forthcoming battle on the road against the club which contends for the medals in this season would be very complicated for Fylkir.
Breidablic have been unable to beat Fylkir in the Icelandic Pepsideild since 2011. As for me, the Wednesday clash is an excellent opportunity to break this statistics. Although Fylkir have achieved better results in the recent head-to-heads, one shouldn’t forget that the team spent a year in a lower division and the things have changed in Pepsideild since then. In their turn, Breidablic have improved their game, being full of desire to move higher in the table. On the contrary, the visitors are completely satisfied with their current position in the standings, hence, they might get relaxed a bit unlike the hosts who are in a tough race for the medals and the upcoming home fight against the new-comer is a good chance to pick up the important three points.
Prediction for the match: Breidablic to win.
