Bosnia & Herzegovina hosts France in round 3 of the World Cup Qualification. The match will be played on Wednesday, March 31st at Stadion Grbavica (Sarajevo)
Bosnia & Herzegovina has serious potential. Truth be told, its generation of stars did not really show their best, only once advancing to the World Cup. And the leading players, Pjanic and Dzeko, have already grown old and do not always play in their current clubs. Perhaps this is the reason for the frankly mediocre results of the Golden Lilies. Suffice it to say that the last victory was back in 2019 (3-0 over Liechtenstein). Then there was the completely failed Nations League campaign (albeit in company with Italy, Poland, and the Netherlands), and Bosnia lost in the playoffs for promotion to the Euro (in the home match against Northern Ireland on penalties). The situation has not changed this spring. In Finland, the Bosnians managed to pull out a 2-2 draw only at the end of the match, and on Saturday they tied with Costa Rica in a friendly match (0-0).

France often showed quite modest results at the start of qualifications. Apparently, the Blues find it difficult to immediately set themselves up for a serious fight – subconsciously, the stars understand that they will have time to catch up, even if they now give someone a handicap. In the first round, the French played against Ukraine, which came to Paris in autumn and suffered a 1-7 defeat in a friendly match. But this time everything was different, and the Yellow-Blues deservedly defended a 1-1 draw. It seemed that Didier Deschamps' charges would destroy the Kazakhs in the second game. Either the long flight affected, or the French did not betray their pragmatism, but they won only 2-0 and scored both goals before the break. It could have been a romp, but Mokin was on a roll and even managed to save a penalty - Kilian Mbappé didn’t beat him from the spot already in the 2nd half.
The statistics are curious. France and Bosnia met four times. Two games were friendly and two were played in qualifications. France invariably won away but allowed Bosnia to gain honorary draws on its pitch. France does not shine now, but its level is gradually becoming noticeable, and it is far from certain that the next goalkeeper will be as reliable as Mokin. We recommend betting on the visitors’ victory with a -1 handicap.
Prediction for the match: France to win with -1.0 handicap
