Bolivia hosts Ecuador in round 3 of the World Cup qualification. The match will be played on Thursday, November 12th at Estadio Hernando Siles (La Paz)
The Greens are one of the weakest teams in the region. And one may say that it is just an unconditional outsider of Latin American football. It is not surprising that Cesar Farias' men began the new cycle with a crushing 0-5 defeat on the Brazilian pitch. However, the Bolivians use a very important climatic factor when playing at home. Their opponents simply choke in the highlands, and Argentina won 2-1 here in October only due to the decisive goal of Correa in the 79th minute. During the break, Lionel Messi said that he did not have enough air, which did not prevent him from grappling with the Bolivian physiotherapist at the end of the match. And what will happen when a less skilled rival arrives in La Paz?

The Tricolors recently alternated promotions to the world championships (and certain successes there) with unsuccessful attempts to prove themselves in the qualification. In 2006, Ecuadorians even got in the 1/8 finals, and they scored four points at the group stage of the Brazilian World Cup in 2014. Now the players who work in the local championship or at least in Latin America form most of the team. There are some players who came from Europe, where they are well quoted. We mean Estupignan, Grueso, and Enner Valencia (plus several promising young talents that are trying to gain a foothold on the other side of the ocean.) The unfading Christian Noboa from Sochi will not help his partners this time. However, this midfielder also didn’t play in October, and the Ecuadorians looked good even without him. They lost to Argentina only after Messi’s goal from the penalty spot and beat Uruguay at home (4:2). Estrada scored a double and became the hero of the last match.
Bolivia will play at home, but even in such conditions, one should hardly expect an open and attacking game from this national team. Ecuador also does not always beat the Greens on the road, so it’s worth choosing a safer option with Under 2.5 goals scored.
Prediction for the match: Under 2.5 goals scored
