BATE take on the visitors Partizani in the second leg of UEFA Champions League 1/8-finals qualification. First leg result: 1-1. The match will be played on Tuesday, July 18th at Városi Stadion (Mezőkövesdi).
It was quite surprising that BATE managed to finish the first match of this confrontation with a draw. There was no particular intrigue in this battle, as BATE has been steadily declining for a while now, and the team is not achieving anything even in the domestic league. With each season, Borisov finishes lower and lower. Moreover, they entered this qualification not on sporting principles, as the champion of Belarus is Shakhtyor. However, the miners were involved in match-fixing and were deprived of the right to play in European competitions. As for the second leg, the outcome will likely be similar to the first match. BATE will be playing their home match in Hungary without any fans in the stands, so there will be no support for Borisov. It is unlikely that they will be able to replicate their success from a week ago and at least secure a draw against the Balkan team. Even in the domestic league, BATE cannot boast a streak of good results.

Although the Albanian champions were not considered strong favorites by bookmakers in the first leg, the chances of success were evenly split, approximately 50-50. However, in my opinion, Partizani were significant favorites, and the final score of 1-1 was quite surprising. But we can take into account that it was the first match for the Albanian team after the break, and they were not fully prepared. After a week, they will gain more cohesion and confidence as the Albanian champions, and on neutral ground, they are capable of achieving the desired result. BATE is currently in a poor state, and they certainly have to go through such an opponent.
The score of the first match is 1-1, and now everything starts from a clean slate. I will believe in the Albanians once again. It might be wise to protect against extra time. However, the Balkan representative is likely to be closer to victory. So, I'll stick with the betting option: X2. I have very little faith that BATE will emerge as winners after the full 90 minutes of the match.
Prediction for the match: Partizani not to lose (X2).
