BATE Borisov take on the visitors Qarabag at the Borisov Arena in the second leg match of the UEFA Champions League third qualification round. The match will be played in Barysaw on Tuesday, August 14th. The first leg match ended with a 1-0 win for BATE Borisov.
The Belarusians had a solid first leg match against Qarabag. The minute that fixture started BATE relied on their offensive line and were trying to score as fast as they could. BATE Borisov finally scored a goal on the 36th minute of the game. After that the team locked up in their defense and did not let the Azerbaijanis to create any goal attempts. Quite frankly BATE Borisov were just a classier team than Qarabag. It`s worth noting that in the second qualification round BATE Borisov showed the same playing style against HJK. The first leg match against the Finnish side ended with a 0-0 draw on their home field for the Belarusians and in the second leg match on the away side BATE Borissov were pressing HJK intensively and scored two goals in the first 25 minutes of that match. It is likely that in the second leg match of the third qualification round against Qarabag the team will lock up in their defense and try to keep the overall score the same.

Qarabag were struggling against BATE Borisov in the first leg match. There were multiple moments in that match when the Horsemen were trying to get awarded with a penalty simulating in the box of the Belarusians all the time. Even though those tactics had brought success to the Azerbaijanis in the second qualification round against Kukesi they were not working last week. The players of BATE Borisov tried to avoid any touch with the players of Qarabag inside their box. Overall the Horsemen did not show much of a playing style in the first leg match. Their offensive line was just not there at all and the defense was so-so.
It is very likely that we will see only a few goals scored in the upcoming fixture. BATE Borisov are a cool experienced team who represent their country on the European scene almost every year. They will probably lock up in the defense and Qarabag`s offensive line has been horrible lately anyway.
