Basel hosts PSV in the second leg of the Champions League qualification quarterfinals. The match will be played on Tuesday, July 30th at St. Jakob-Park (Basel)
Basel managed to perform one of the main tasks in the away match with PSV - the Swiss team managed to score, and even twice, though the match was lost. But now the hosts’ task is simple - they need to prevent the Dutch from scoring more than two goals, while winning the meeting. It is worth noting that the meeting in the Netherlands was rather equal, and I will say more. Basel was ahead 2-1 until the 89th minute, but then PSV scored two goals and managed to win. In the last round of the Swiss Super League, Basel didn’t field a regular squad and lost to St. Gallen in the home field. But I believe that the team will brace itself and manage to beat PSV.

To put it mildly, PSV looked not very strong in the first match. In the home game, Eindhoven was surely counting on a better result - after all, a victory with a 3-2 score cannot guarantee anything for the Dutch team. PSV could not do anything with Ajax in the match for the Dutch Super Cup, losing 0-2. And, frankly, the emotions from that fight were far from the best, so it will be incredibly hard to fight with Basel, which is rather powerful at home. Moreover, PSV didn’t show a confident game in the last away matches - the Dutch team lost three of them, and I think that the visitors will not be able to achieve the result they need...
It seems to me that it is worth taking a closer look at the hosts’ victory. Basel plays perfectly in the home arena, and PSV has problems in the away games in recent years. I will risk betting on Basel’s victory!
Prediction for the match: Basel to win
