Ajax Amsterdam hosts APOEL in the second leg of the Champions League qualification finals. The match will be played on Wednesday, August 28th at Stadion Rajko Mitić (Belgrade)
Famous Amsterdam Ajax will soon have nightmares about the teams representing Hellas (Greece + Cyprus), who don’t want to give up the Dutch grandee in the current qualification of the UEFA Champions League. After big problems in previous matches with Greek PAOK (Thessaloniki), the Jews faced no fewer difficulties in the confrontation with Cyprus APOEL. They were very lucky in the first game in the homeland of Aphrodite, in which the stadium hosts simply had to win with a difference of 2-3 goals, without converting a large number of goal attempts. Ajax answered with a small territorial advantage at the beginning of the first half and a few half attempts during the whole match. The Dutch team didn’t oppose anything to the defensive-counterattack tactics of the Cypriots, which they usually engage in the matches with rivals who are higher than them in terms of skills.

As for APOEL, the bosses of the Legend still need to make peace with their active fans, who are currently boycotting the matches of their favorite team. As a result, the usually raging and boiling GSP stadium in Nicosia turned into a standard calm arena, thus leaving its club without proper support in important European cup games... Perhaps, it is the reason that the Legends were unlucky in recent home games: they managed to lose to weak Azerbaijani Qarabag a little earlier (1:2) with the same large number of missed opportunities. And it continued again, as mentioned above, in the battle with Ajax, which saved its goal “dry” literally mystically!
To be honest, it’s not very clear to me why respected bookmakers see a large number of goals in the upcoming match, judging by the odds proposed. The 0-0 score in the first game does not oblige both teams to play openly from the initial minutes... And we are unlikely to see many changes in the style of Ajax and APOEL in this game. They will almost certainly take the position of position-attacking and purely defending side. And it’s far from the fact that the Dutch will be able to cope with the reliable defense of the visitors easily and repeatedly unless they got such a referee who awarded 3 penalties into the goal of PAOK last time... I look forward to the fight and Under 3.5 goals scored in the upcoming game!
Prediction for the match: Under 3.5 goals scored
