AC Milan welcome the visitors SPAL in the Italian Serie A – Round 19. The match will be held on Saturday, December 29th, at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) (Milan).
There are many possible successful bets for the coming AC Milan-SPAL encounter. All of them, however, do not favor the ‘Rossoneri’. For example, Milan’s under 2.5 goals under the 1.40 odds looks nice. It’s not very rewarding, but it’s safe – the hosts failed to score Frosinone in the last round, same as in the previous four consecutive rounds. Will they finally start to be effective? We don’t think so. There are no grounds for this. SPAL are not that bad in defense. Will the home pitch factor matter much? We doubt – looks like the home turf plays no importance for the hosts. They were victorious in front of their own fans until recently indeed, but now they cannot even make a goal there. Broadly speaking, Milan do not play at all. The team resemble Manchester United under the latest Mourinho’s stewardship – they play in the midfield, roll the ball, and don’t know how to manage it. The Serie A is a specific tournament, not every star can perform well here. As far as Gattuso’s wins are concerned, they are all hard-fought, not outclassing the opponent, and gained owing to their mistakes or thanks to penalties. So, it’s not that surprising that Milan have registered only one win in six latest rounds, featuring just two wins by a margin of two goals throughout the Serie A campaign. That said, should we consider Milan’s win over SPAL in two head-to-heads by a 6:0 aggregate scoreline?

SPAL were a surprise at the beginning of the season. Their away win over Roma was also great. Though the ‘White-Blues’ compete in the relegation zone, they know how to oppose Italian toppers. They do concede to them. But neither Juventus, nor Napoli managed to down the Ferrara team. SPAL mostly struggled against middle-class teams. They will surely set up for Milan – the club’s placement in the drop area requires them to rack up points. Why not, if they oppose the team whose play is not tight at all?
It’s not that we bet on SPAL’s outstanding performance. Not at all. The guests are a typical Serie A outsider, too snappy and dangerous at times. This is about Milan themselves. For the bet to fail, the hosts need to score at least twice, and they cannot miss at this. The second is doable. But, given Milan’s attacking play and their general team performance, two goals to the opponent’s net would be a cosmic coincidence. In our view, the guests will win with +1.5 handicap. We may even see a draw tomorrow. Milan are not impressive at all.
Prediction for the match: SPAL to win with +1.5 handicap.
