Young Boys take on the visitors Basel at “Stade de Suisse” in the semi-final clash of the Swiss Cup. The game will be played in Bern on Tuesday, February 27th.
Young Boys look terrific in this season. The club is currently taking the lead in the Swiss Super League table with 52 points gained after 23 encounters played. On the previous stages of the Swiss Cup Adi Hütter’s side has managed to pass over Breitenrain, Old Boys, Munsingen and St. Gallen. The team’s offense shows massive performance in attack, having scored 53 goals already, however, its defense also stays tough with 22 goals conceded. In the recent home battles Young Boys have broken Sion 1:0, Thun 2:0 and St. Gallen 3:1.
Each season Basel fight for the gold medals of the Swiss elite division, but in this season the team has lost nearly all chances to solve that task successfully. The club currently occupies the second place in the Super League standings with 41 points deserved after 22 tackles behind. In the previous rounds of the Swiss Cup Basel have knocked out Wettswil-Bonstetten, Chiasso, Rapperswil and Luzern. In the latest games conducted on the road the side recorded three victories over Thun, Grasshoppers and Benfica with the same 2:0 scoreline.
Basel have failed to upset Young Boys across five head-to-heads in a row. It is quite difficult to define a favourite of the upcoming fight, however, I presume that “The Boys” will manage to succeed thanks to the home-field factor.
Prediction for the match: Young Boys to win.
