Turkey national team take on the visitors Russia in an international friendly match on Wednesday, August 31st.
Turkey failed in Euro-2016 as the couldn’t advance for the round of 16 as they planned. They showed low level of football and lost two starting matches to Croatia, 0-1 and to Spain, 0-3. The team tied to turn things around and won the last match in the group against Czech Republic, 2-0, but it wasn’t enough to qualify for the round of best 16. Turkey played eight matches in 2016, taking five wins and three defeats.

Russia showed even worse results in France, taking 1-1 draw against England with late unexpected equalizer, losing to Slovakia, 1-2 and suffering thrashing defeat in decisive match against Wales, 0-3, while the score could’ve been much bigger. Of course, the head coach Slutsky resigned after this disaster and Football Federation appointed new manager Stanislav Cherchesov in the beginning of August.
The opponents haven’t met before and this match will start the record of head-to-heads between the teams. Also, Russia will play their first match under new head coach, who won double in Poland with Legia last season. We shouldn’t expect top football nor numerous scoring chances on both side.
Prediction for the match: Under 2.5 goals.
