Troyes take on the visitors Rennes at “Stade de l'Aube” in the starting round of the French Ligue 1 of 2017/2018 season. The game will be played on Saturday, August 5th.

Last season Rennes settled on the ninth place in the Ligue 1 standings with 50 points earned and 36-42 goal difference which didn’t allow the team to perform in the Eurocups this year. Obviously The Bretons were not happy with that and this summer they have spent 26 million EUR to sign Hamari Traore, Faitout Maouassa and Ismaila Sarr for 2.4, seven and 16.2 million EUR respectively while earning 2 million EUR for selling their former players. During the summer break Christian Gourcuff’s side has played four friendly clashes resulting in two wins and two defeats. Judging from the transfers made, this season Rennes are set to at least battle for the Eurocups not forgetting about winning medals of the Ligue 1.
Troyes show solid performance in front of their fans while Rennes are not going to lose to the elite division’s new-comer especially after such expenditures on the team’s squad enforcement. Consequently, I expect for an interesting battle and I believe that there will be goals scored and even more than one.
