Serbia takes on the visitors Georgia at “Rajko Mitic Stadium” in the closing matchday 10 of the Europe’s Qualifiers Group stage for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. The game will be played in Belgrade on Monday, October 9th.
Serbia keeps on a remarkable pace in the current qualifying campaign. The team could have secured itself the first place in Group D in the previous fight against Austria and eventual direct promotion to the final stage of the tournament. However, Slavoljub Muslin’s side has broken its five-clash unbeaten run by losing 2:3 to Austria with the decisive goal conceded on the 89th minute of the battle. As a result, Serbia has already secured itself at least the second place in the group standings which guarantees participation in the Promotion Play Offs to the next year’s Mundial as with only one round left till the end of the qualifying competition the side takes the lead in Group D table with 18 points earned and 19-10 goal difference gained sitting on the first place in group D and won’t get lower for sure while in case of a victory it will directly promote to the final stage in Russia. The Serbians picked up eight points with nine goals for and five goals against in four games at their own turf.

Georgia has also broken its five-match undefeated streak with 0:1 failure to Wales at the home field in recent fight. Before that loss the Georgian side had earned three draws in a row. After nine encounters played, Georgia has five points earned with 8-13 goal difference as the team recorded not a single triumph together with five draws and four defeats in them. The Georgians picked up three points with four goals for and five goals against in four clashes on the road.
The teams’ head-to-heads history consists of one single fight in the first lap of the current qualifying cycle which was finished in Serbia’s favour with 3:1 scoreline. As Serbia managed to defeat its upcoming opponent on the road, it will definitely win in face of its supporters which would also mean a direct pass to the Mundial’s final stage. It’s obvious that the hosts will succeed in the forthcoming clash, however, I don’t believe that they will get a lopsided victory.
Prediction for the match: Georgia to win with +2.0 Asian handicap.
