Pyunik Yerevan take on the visitors Slovan Bratislava at “Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium” in the first-leg match of the 1/8 stage of the Qualification to the UEFA Europa League 2017/2018. The game will be played in Yerevan on Thursday, June 29th.
Last season Pyunik Yerevan settles on the fourth position Armenia’s Premier League with 45 points earned and 35-27 goal difference after 30 rounds. This summer the Armenians have played one friendly encounter already resulting in 1:1 draw against Shirak Gyumri. Slovan Bratislava finished 2016/2017 season sitting on the second place in the Fortuna Liga’s table with 57 points gained and 54-34 goal difference after 30 matchdays. This summer the Slovaks participated in two games ending with draws: 3:3 vs. Komarno and 1:1 vs. Zlin. In 2017 Slovan Bratislava got seven victories and three draws in 10 encounters on the road.
It will be the first head-to-head for Pyunik Yerevan and Slovan Bratislava. The Slovak’s football players are the favourites of the matchup as at the moment the current Pyunik Yerevan are far away from a side which line-up consisted of nearly the entire Armenia A-team and constantly sold players to the European clubs. I believe that the forthcoming encounter will be exciting with a number of goals combined by the opponents and the hosts at least will fight with the Slovaks. Both rivals scored and conceded a lot of goals in all summer clashes, thus, the teams are quite able to repeat that result in the official battle.
Prediction for the match: Over 2.5 scored goals.
