Poland takes on the visitors Montenegro at “National Stadium” in the matchday 10 of the Europe’s Qualifiers Group stage for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. The game will be played in Warsaw on Sunday, October 8th.
In recent years the Poles have become one of the most sustainable A-teams in Europe. Starting from the 7th of September 2915 the side has lost only twice in 24 encounters played during last two years. That is why their 0:4 loss in Denmark on the 1st of September was so unexpected. Nevertheless, the Poles have revived very quickly: at first they have beaten Kazakhstan 3:0 and then thrashed Armenia 6:1 last Thursday. As a result, Robert Lewandowski and his teammates take the lead in Group E table with 22 points earned and 24-12 goal difference and all they need to do for the direct promotion to the Mundial’s final stage is not to lose on Sunday. Poland won all for matches at the home field with 11:4 aggregated score.

This Thursday Montenegro failed in the equal fight against Denmark with 0:1 scoreline in face of their fans, having lost almost any hope to play at Russian pitches next summer. With nine rounds behind, the Balkan side occupies the third position in the group standings with 16 points taken and 18-8 goal difference being three points below Denmark which sits on the second place and has better statistics. The Montenegrins picked up seven points with seven goals for and four goals against in four clashes on the road.
Montenegro has never defeated Poland in their head-to-heads history. The rivals met three times resulting in two draws (2:2, 1:1) and 2:1 triumph of the Poles in the first lap of the current qualification. I presume that Poland will deserve a direct pass to World Cup’s final stage, still, the Montenegrins won’t fail with a handsome margin in the forthcoming battle.
Prediction for the match: Montenegro to win with +2.0 Asian handicap.
