Montenegro take on the visitors Kazakhstan in the round 2 match of qualification for the World Cup 2018. The match takes place at Stadion Pod Goricom (Podgorica) on Saturday, October 8th.
Montenegro national team are showing poor results recently. They’ve started their independent path as the team who was battling for top places in their group but now they are far from that. The team has quite disappointing record in past two years, taking only two wins in 12 matches with two draws and eight defeats. The start of this qualifying campaign wasn’t great either as Montenegro could’ve lost a match if Romania scored from the spot.

Once Kazakhstan became UEFA members, they were never close to taking part in major competition and never finished higher than fourth in their qualifying group. This is the price they pay for playing with the best national teams in the world. Kazakhstan started qualification with excellent results, drawing 2-2 with Poland at home after being down 0-2. The team also have nice record in 2016 with two wins, two draws and one defeat.
Montenegro and Kazakhstan played only one head-to-head in their history when today’s hosts thrashed the opponents 3-0 wins 2008. Despite poor record in past couple of years, Montenegro are still much more skilled side so we should expect them to convert home-field advantage into goals and a home win.
Prediction for the match: Montenegro to win.
