Linfield take on the visitors Celtic at “Windsor Park” in the first-leg match of the 1/4 stage of the Qualification to the UEFA Champions League 2017/2018. The game will be played in Belfast on Friday, July 14th.
Last season Linfield became the NIFL Premiership’s champion because of 14-clash undefeated streak at the end of the season which has covered 13 triumphs. The side had picked up 89 points with 87-24 goal difference in 38 encounters and finished the season being two points above Crusaders. The Northern Irish passed through the one qualifying round having knocked out La Fiorita 1:0, 0:0. Besides, they were thrashed by Hearts with 1:4 scoreline in a friendly battle. In 2017 Linfield played eight matches in front of their supporters recording six victories, one draw and one loss in them. The Northern Irish’ unbeaten home run consists of seven games and has been lasting since the 21st of January.

Celtic won the Premiership as it used to be in recent years having taken 106 points with 106 goals for, 25 goals against and with not a single defeat in 38 clashes. This summer “The Celts” participated in four friendly encounters resulting in two triumphs and two draws, 11 goals for and one goal against. Celtic have not been broken at away fields in more than 20 official games.
It will be a first head-to-head between Linfield and Celtic. The level of the countries’ elite divisions differs greatly and the Scots have dramatic advantage. I believe that “The Celts” shouldn’t face any difficulties in getting a confident victory on the road.
Prediction for the match: Celtic to win with -2.0 Asian handicap.
