Fiorentina take on the visitors Sampdoria at “Stadio Artemio Franchi” in the round two of the Italian Serie A. The game will be played in Florence on Sunday, August 27th.
Fiorentina collapsed last season, having settled just on the eighth position in the Serie A standings with 60 points gained. Still, it should be mentioned that last season’s leaders have left the team, namely: Josip Ilicic, Borja Valero, Federico Bernardeschi, Ciprian Teterushanu, Matias Vecino and Nikola Kalinic. The renewed Fiorentina took unsuccessful start in the Serie A: the side was thrashed by Inter with 0:3 scoreline meaning that Stefano Pioli has a plenty of work left to do in Florence.

Sampdoria also sold their leaders this summer, however, it didn’t have any reflection on team’s results in first clashes of the season: in the Coppa Italia the side defeated Foggia 3:0 while entered the Serie A with 2:1 triumph over Benevento. Last season Sampdoria showed inconsistent play on the road, having got two draws and two losses in last four away matches.
Three recent head-to-heads between Fiorentina and Sampdoria ended with draws. I believe that the time has come for “Violas” to break that balance and gain three points at once.
