Feyenoord take on the visitors Vitesse at “De Kuip” in a fight for the Dutch Super Cup. The game will be played in Rotterdam on Saturday, August 5th.
Last season Feyenoord won the Eredivisie champion’s title, having earned 82 points with 86-25 goal difference in 34 rounds and finished only one point ahead of Ajax. In summer the Rotterdammers didn’t bask in their success and were concerned about engaging new football players, having signed six performers who were completely ready to become line-up footballers: Jean-Paul Boetius, Sofyan Amrabat, Kevin Diks, Jeremiah St Juste, Ridgeciano Haps and Steven Berghuis. Feyenoord have spent 23 million EUR for the roster’s enforcement while earned 31 million on selling Eljero Elia, Rick Karsdorp and Terence Kongolo. Besides, Dirk Kuyt has retired.

Vitesse settled on the fifth place in previous season’s Eredivisie, however, the side form Arnhem managed to get the KNVB Beker what is the most important. It is natural that Vitesse do not have such substantial financial resources as the reigning champion, but a tight cooperation with Chelsea allows the club to stay among the Dutch football leaders because of the rented players from London. Chelsea loan three performers to Arnhem, plus Vitesse engaged Tim Matavz as well as bought Brian Linssen and Remko Pasveer for one and 0.45 million EUR respectively.
Feyenoord won four out of five recent head-to-heads against Vitesse, still their single loss took place in the KNVB Beker in January 2017. The champion has stronger squad, statistics is also on its behalf, thus I believe that Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s should enter a new season winning the trophy.
Prediction for the match: Feyenoord to win.
