FC Koln take on the visitors Eintracht Frankfurt at “RheinEnergieStadion” in the matchday five of the German Bundesliga. The game will be played in Cologne on Wednesday, September 20th.
The start of the season for “Die Geißbocke” can be described by two words: complete disaster. Having thrashed the amateurs in the DFB Pokal with 5:0 scoreline, FC Koln were broken in all five clashes afterwards with 2:15 aggregated score. In summer the team has lost its main striker – Anthony Modeste, therefore, the club’s problems in offense were quite predictable while it is an interesting question what has happened with its defense. FC Koln conceded at least three goals in four recent encounters and last Sunday were smashed 5:0 by Borussia Dortmund. As a result, “Die Geißbocke” sit on deserved last position in the Bundesliga standings with zero points earned and 1-12 goal difference.

It cannot be said that Eintracht Frankfurt entered new season confidently, however, “Die Adler” look better than their upcoming rival. Last round Niko Kovac’s side was unexpectedly defeated 1:2 by FC Augsburg in face of its supporters and at the moment it settles on the 13th place in the elite division table with four points taken and 2-3 goal difference. Similar to the opponent, Eintracht Frankfurt have great difficulties with their attacking line, still their defense is able to demonstrate appropriate game which allows “Die Adler” to gain points.
Six recent head-to-heads between the rivals ended in favour of the hosts. Last season the teams showed humble results: 1:0, 1:0. I presume that the sides won’t combine a number of goals in the forthcoming battle again as the opponents faced great hardships with scoring goals in this season.
Prediction for the match: Under 2.5 scored goals.
