Cittadella take on the visitors Perugia at "Stadio Pier Cesare Tombolato" in the gameweek three of the Italian Serie B. The match will be played on Monday, September 11th.
Cittadella occupied the sixth place in the last season's Serie B which can be regarded as a great achievement. Nevertheless, the club is lacking ambitions to promote to the Serie A, therefore, the squad lost few crucial players with Luca Valzania and Danielle Pedrelli having departed from the team while the club’s management didn't care about signing their players who would be able to substitute them. Moreover, the side's fighting spirit is probably low now as every performer understands perfectly well that the club's possibilities are limited. Thus, there is no wonder that Cittadella had a weak start in the new season, having lost to Frosinone at first and then barely defeated modest Ascoli with a shaky 3:2 score with four goals conceded in those two clashes which are too much for the Serie B.

Perugia entered the new season in the Serie B better than all the other teams, having gained two victories in two encounters with 9:3 aggregated score despite that solid Pescara were one of their opponents. Such a successful start by "Grifoni" is no wonder as the club's management gathered a very masterful squad (Antonio Rosati, Alberto Cerri, Matteo Brighi, Nicola Belmonte, Filippo Falco and even North Korean Han Kwang-Song who scored hat-trick in his debut match in the Serie B) which is quite able to race for promotion to the Italian elite division. Last season Perugia were close to success as the team occupied the fourth place in the standings, having gained only seven losses in 42 rounds which was the least of all the sides in the Serie B but failed in the Play Offs, having lost to the winner Benevento 2:1. Now with the roster being enforced, Perugia are ready to perform at least not worse than they did last season.
Last season Perugia were beaten only once in 10 clashes against top-6 teams (a defeat to Spal which won the Serie B eventually). In their turn, Cittadella rarely gained victories in such fights - only two triumphs in 10 games. Moreover, Perugia's statistics in their head-to-heads against Cittadella is good enough as the latter have gained not a single win over Perugia in last two seasons, having earned only one point out of 12 possible points (0-1-3). I believe that "Grifoni" will extend their successful run in the forthcoming battle as for today they look stronger.
Prediction for the match: Perugia to win with 0.0 Asian handicap.
