Bordeaux take on the visitors Metz at “Stade de Bordeaux” in the gameweek two of the French Ligue 1. The match will be played on Saturday, August 12th.
Starting the 5th of April till now, Bordeaux have lost only two encounters and both these defeats cost the club participation in the respective tournaments. At first, the team was broken by Angers 1:2 in the Coupe de France quarter-final and then the side was sensationally beaten by the Hungarian Videoton in the early August and was knocked out from the UEFA Europa League. That failure in the Eurocups just confirmed that Bordeaux are not in their best form now as the team entered the new season in the Ligue 1 with 2:2 draw against Angers on the road. Metz were very close from relegation to the Ligue 2 last season and in the current season Philippe Hinschberger’s side will have to fight for saving a place in elite division again. This summer the team’s leaders have left the club with the latter having earned 20 million EUR for their sale while the free agents joined the club to substitute them. As a result, Metz lost to Guingamp with 1:3 scoreline in face of their fans in the first round with not much promising perspectives for the club this season.
Despite their recent failures and bad start of the season, Bordeaux must take three points in the fight at their own turf against the potential outsider of the Ligue 1 as Metz didn’t manage to gain points even at the home stadium against Guingamp which are not stronger than the hosting side of the upcoming clash for sure.
