Barcelona B take on the visitors Tenerife at “Mini Estadi” in the round two of the Spanish LaLiga2. The match will be played in Barcelona on Monday, August 28th.
Last season Barcelona B performed in the Segunda Division B. Having won confidently their Group with 82 points gained in 38 encounters, the team qualified to the Play Offs where it proved to be the strongest team once again. In the opening gameweek of this season the young Catalans broke Valladolid 2:1 on the road. The main target of Barcelona B is to train young football stars of the Catalonian grand, therefore, the club has no tournament goals as it has no right to promote to the elite division, still, it doesn’t look like to relegate to the Segunda Division B either.

In previous season Tenerife have been fighting for the promotion to the LaLiga to the very last round. As a result, the team occupied the fourth place in the standings of the LaLiga2 with 66 points earned. In the Play Offs the club had beaten Huesca 2:2, 3:0, but in the final it was broken by Getafe 1:0, 1:3 and stayed with the LaLiga2 for one more season. After the summer break the Tenerife’s aim remained the same: to promote to the elite division, thus, the team entered the new season with 1:0 triumph over Zaragoza.
Barcelona B play for their own pleasure and, in accordance to the common rules, the young Catalans at least have to lose points if not to be defeated by the clubs with tournament targets even at the home pitch. Consequently, I presume that the visiting side will leave Catalonia with some points taken.
