Sparta are the silver medalist of Czech top league season 2015-16. The hosting side has gained 64 points with 61-24 goal difference in 30 matches and finished seven points behind the winners Victoria. The season in Czech Republic hasn’t started yet and the team had to prepare through sparring matches, taking win over Ceske Budejovice, 2-1, drawing with Fenerbahce, 0-0 and losing to Rubin Kazan, 0-2. Steaua are also the second team of the last season, just like Sparta are. Bucuresti side finished five points behind the first place in top Romanian division. The team had quite intensive pre-season, playing six sparring matches. They avoided defeat in them, taking wins over Turnisce, 7-0, Nijmegen, 1-0, Charleroi, 3-0, Krylya Sovetov, 1-2 and PAOK, 4-3, drawing one match with Dinamo Zagreb, 0-0. Steaua also had a chance to win supercup in Romania, defeating Concordia 2-1.
The opponents faced one another in clun friendly in February last year, when Romanian side took 3-0 win. However, stakes are high this time and Sparta proved this spring they can offer a battle to solid European team while Steaua wasn’t successful in recent year. We can expect the host to win in front of home fans.
