Portugal national team take on Austria in the in their second match of Euro 2016 group stage. The match will be played in Paris and Parc de Princes on Saturday, June 18th.
Portugal showed nice attacking football in their first match against Iceland but failed to win the game. Ronaldo and Co. had total advantage in every component like possession (66-34), shots (27-4) and shots on goal (10-4) but it wasn’t enough to beat Iceland, who convert one of their rare chances, 1-1. The Captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, didn’t show his best skills and it reduced Portugal overall level and it was one of the decisive factors that led to that draw. Austria disappointed with their performance in the first match against probably the worst team of their group, losing to Hungary 0-2. Of course, Hungary didn’t have advantage in that match and result could’ve been difference if Dragovic wasn’t sent off. This defeat almost took all the chances for the knockout stage from Austria and it seems that the team isn’t able to achieve more after spectacular qualifying campaign, considering quite average results in 2016.
