Mexico national team take on the titleholders Chile in the quarterfinals of Copa America 2016. The match will be played on Sunday, June 19th.
Mexico have been showing phenomenal results throughout last year. The team have recorded their last defeat almost a year ago in the end of June. Mexico played 22 matches since then, recording 12 wins and 10 draws. The team had no troubles qualifying for the knockout stage, taking wins over Uruguay, 3-1, Jamaica, 2-0 and drawing the last match of the group stage. Chile are the reigning champions of the competition. The team finished second in the group, making way only to in-form Argentina. Chile lost their first match to Messi and Co and followed that defeat with wins over Bolivia, 2-1, and Panama, 4-2, gaining six points in the group. Still, both defeated side are of way lower level than Chile or today’s opponents of the titleholders.
