France and Romania national teams open European Championship 2016. The match will be played in Paris at Stade de France on Friday, June 10th.
Didier Deschamp’s team played friendly matches for the last two years and were getting ready for the home competition. The last official match of the team was 0-1 defeat to future World Champions Germany in World Cup 2014 in Brazil. France played 19 matches since then, recording 13 wins, two draw and four defeats. France played only three matches in 2016, winning all them – 3-2 over the Netherlands, 4-2 over Russia, and 3-2 over Cameroon. France show nice attacking football which is confirmed by 10 goals scored in these three matches. However, defense allowed at two goals in each of these matches which is quite a lot for the team that aims for the title.

Romania showed strong results in 2015-2016, having no problems qualifying for the European Championship. The team were on impressive 18-match undefeated run until 3-4 loss to Ukraine in a friendly few days ago. However, Romania have already bounced back, thrashing Georgia 5-1 in the following match. Last 20 matches of the team led by experienced coach Anghel Iordanescu ended with 10 wins, nine draws and only one defeat.
The upcoming match will the tens head-to-head between the opponents. As of today, France have four wins and five matches ended with draws while Romania never managed to beat the hosts of the competition. Opening matches quite often turn to a show with number of goals scored. Considering the record of France in recent matches we can expect the opponents combine at least three goals on the opening match.
Prediction for the match: Over 2.5 goals.
